We’re excited to host our 7th Annual Good Apple Reception. The event brings together community members, partners, supporters, and lawmakers to celebrate Missouri Appleseed’s impact. Good Apple Awards will be presented to pivotal partners who have helped advance our mission to improve the systems and policies at the intersection of public health, criminal justice, and child welfare.
Proceeds from the event benefit Missouri Appleseed’s initiatives and help expand our reach. For sponsorship inquiries, email Mary Quandt or download the Sponsorship Opportunities flyer.

BILL PASSED
Voting Rights Restoration was truly agreed to and finally passed on May 12! This legislation restores the right to vote to over 75% of Missourians who are currently working, paying taxes, and living in their communities, but are still under probation and parole supervision.

Thank you to Representative Melanie Stinnett (R-Springfield) for her sponsorship and dedication to this bill, and to Senator Kurtis Gregory (District 21) for adding it as an amendment to HB 1871.
BUDGET WIN
Advocating for Doula Funding
Missouri Appleseed is proud to celebrate the inclusion of funding for doula services in the Missouri Department of Corrections’ budget. Building on our advocacy to improve care for incarcerated pregnant women, this investment will provide critical support during pregnancy and childbirth, helping improve maternal and infant health outcomes while reducing complications and saving the state money on costly medical interventions. This win reflects the power of bipartisan solutions that ensure the safety, health, and dignity of Missouri’s moms and babies. Learn more >

CURRENT PROJECT: FAIR SENTENCING FOR SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND COERCION
Survivors’ Justice Project Women from the Keyway Center for Diversion & Reentry, Soulfisher Ministries, and A Home for Her contributed to our story banking study, which centers on exploring how domestic violence can lead to criminal convictions. By documenting these lived experiences, we seek to highlight patterns in the abuse-to-prison pipeline and inform policy solutions that better recognize and respond to the realities faced by survivors of abuse.
